Marcaron House: A Bright and Spacious Interior Design

Creating a Lively and Soft Space for Women

The Marcaron House, designed by Yuan Chang Tsai and Pin Yu Chen, is a stunning example of interior design that transforms a cramped and dim space into a bright and spacious haven. By re-adjusting the layout and removing partition walls, the designers have created a multi-functional lounge that is open, inviting, and filled with natural light. This article explores the unique properties of the Marcaron House and the design choices that make it stand out.

To address the original layout's limitations, the designers swapped spaces, resulting in a more extended and amplified living area. This open and diverse space can serve as a bedroom, a Japanese room, a chat room, or even a mahjong room. By removing compartments and timber, the designers allowed the light from the windows to flood the space, making it brighter and more welcoming.

The Marcaron House also showcases the designers' attention to usability and storage. Soft colors are used to paint the wall surfaces, seamlessly integrating them into the cabinets. This not only enhances the overall aesthetic but also provides ample storage space. Classic tiles and double sinks in the restroom areas further optimize space utilization.

The materials used in the Marcaron House are carefully selected to enhance its unique qualities. Imported tiles, herringbone parquet flooring, baking varnish, custom-made iron parts, aluminum frame sliding doors, and South American radiation pine plywood all contribute to the design's durability and visual appeal.

With a total area of 640.620 square feet, the Marcaron House underwent a complete re-planning and redesign to maximize its potential. The project, which started in September 2018 and concluded in October 2019, took place in Taichung, Taiwan.

The Marcaron House is a testament to the designers' research and problem-solving skills. By addressing issues such as water leakage and insufficient lighting, the designers were able to transform the space into a vibrant and well-lit environment. The removal of partition walls and the incorporation of more windows significantly improved the overall brightness and openness of the house.

The Marcaron House has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges the creativity and resourcefulness of the design, as well as its contribution to improving quality of life.

The Marcaron House is a true testament to the power of thoughtful interior design. By reimagining the space and incorporating unique elements, Yuan Chang Tsai and Pin Yu Chen have created a bright, spacious, and inviting home that perfectly balances functionality and aesthetics.
